Despite being a former skateboarder, I've made surprisingly few illustrations about skateboarding. Kick was a chance to correct that, with a simple kickflip drawn in my usual exaggerated, slightly fisheye-inspired style.
The yellow shapes suggest speed and movement, but they also serve another purpose. They were deliberately designed to tolerate the imperfect registration of risograph printing. If the yellow ink lands slightly off, the image only gains more movement. Sometimes the mistakes do the work for you.
